Some might say WX but it's got even more serious problems. The kind of thing I want to do there is basic, everyday C development made next to impossible by the Qt moc.which itself is entirely unnecessary now days, if it ever actually was.įrankly though, I'm stuck with it because if you want to do automated UI testing, Qt is pretty much the only game in town short of MFC.which is so 1980 (it sucks working in that shit really hard). I actually spent a lot of time and effort researching and devising a way to gain type safety back and connect a Qt signal to any functor object: People used to Java or Python style programming probably fair better actually. That, mixed with the fact that everything that responds to a signal has to be a Q_OBJECT, makes Qt hard to work in for a C programmer. You can't do this: #define CREATE_WIDGET(name,type) \ It also doesn't play well with the preprocessor. Of all the things I don't like about Qt, the fact that it doesn't play well with templates bugs me the most. It produces extremely large compiled binaries when compared with similarly written "plain old native applications" (excepting of course applications written for KDE).Parts are mostly licensed under the LGPL, which makes it difficult to use single-binary-deployment when one needs to release under a more restrictive or less restrictive license. This can make setting up a build environment much more tedious. Qt is a large amount of source, which must be present and preinstalled on any machine you use before compiling. This almost forces use of QtCreator or a textual only editor like vim. As a result of (2), C IDEs and tools can flag Qt expressions as errors, because they do not understand Qt's specifics. The build system being used requires the translation of certain files into extra source files, which makes the build process much more complicated when compared with most other libraries. Qt is not just a link-able set of C libraries.Just because you can write one UI for every platform does not mean that you should for most applications. #APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT WITH QT CREATOR 2ND EDITION WINDOWS#On Windows machines, split bars are typically narrow, and buttons are more textual, with more square designs. #APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT WITH QT CREATOR 2ND EDITION MAC#For example, on Mac machines, split bars are usually relatively thick, and buttons are small and rounded with icons. Designing a single UI for all platforms inherently is not going to look right when moved from machine to machine, for various visual styling reasons. In some cases, it just doesn't look like native programs look. There are plenty of good things to say about it - namely that the API works most of the time, and that it does seamlessly bridge platforms. I don't really intend this to be a bashing answer, but these are the reasons I do not personally use Qt. ![]()

Players may have to take sleeping tiles before this is accomplished but as soon as the cross is complete, play continues as in the draw game. So for this first doublet only, dominoes are played adjacent to all four sides of the tile. After the first doublet is played, the next four tiles played must be played against that doublet so as to form a cross. The game is played in exactly the same way as the Draw game but with a different start. ![]() ![]() Cross DominoesĪn extension to the Draw game, this variation gives players more options and also takes up less table space! With the Block game, since a few tiles remain sleeping and unknown throughout the game, a larger element of uncertainty reigns. The difference between the two games is that in the Draw Game, players know that all the tiles will end up in play - this enables them to better deduce what tiles other players might be holding. For this variation, two players would start with 7 dominoes, three players with 5 tiles, four players with 4 tiles and five players with 3 tiles. When the sleeping dominoes run out, players simply pass their turn when they cannot go. Players take less dominoes initially but a player who cannot place a domino must pick a sleeping domino to add to their set. Really no more than a variant of the Block game, the Draw Game is more popular in many parts of the world. With a double-twelve set, four players would pick 12 tiles each and with a double-nine set, nine tiles would be taken at the start. The same game can be played with a double-twelve set (91 tiles) or a double-nine set (55 tiles) domino sets. Games can also be played in the same way with two players (start with 8 tiles), three players (start with 6 tiles), five players (start with 5 tiles) or with four players without partnership. A game can be played to 100 points, say, or on a cribbage board, 121 points. In a game which doesn't result in anyone chipping out, the winners would receive the difference between the winners total spots and the losers total spots. A more interesting method, that might be scored using a cribbage board, has the winners score the sum of all spots on the losers remaining tiles. If it reaches a point at which no player can proceed, the winners are the partners whose combined sum of all spots on their remaining dominoes is the least.įor scoring, some pubs would play a point per game. Normally play stops when one player "chips out" (plays his last domino) although some versions require both partners to chip out. The opposing players will, of course, make mental note of the numbers currently available on the table and try to ensure that they are available in future too. Otherwise the player "knocks", or raps the table and play passes to the next player. If a player can lay a domino, then it must be played. The shape of the domino chain develops snake-line at random according to the whims of the players and the limitations of the playing surface. A tile played to a double must also be placed accordingly - perpendicular to the double touching at its middle. Doubles are always placed cross-ways across the end of the chain. Unless, the tile is a double, the tile can be placed square in any one of the three directions as long as the two matching sides are touching fully. Each tile being placed must be positioned so that the two matching ends are adjacent. The way that the tiles are placed provides a small part of the entertainment. If a player plays a domino with the result that both ends of the chain show the same number (normally a number which is useful to the player and distasteful to the opponents), that player is said to have "stitched up" the ends. A player may only play a tile which has upon it a number showing at one end of the domino chain or the other. The PlayĮach player must in turn then play a tile onto the table positioning it so that it touches one end of the domino chain which thus gradually increases in length. If none of the players hold a double, then the tiles are reshuffled and re-drawn. The tile played must be the double tile that permitted the player to take the first turn. The first person to play is that person holding the double-six, or failing that the double-five and so on. ![]() Remaining dominoes are termed "sleeping" tiles. ![]() Beginners can just place them on their edge in a row facing them. Play dominoes free#The traditional English pub method of doing this is face down in two rows of three so that all six can be picked up with both hands, looked at and returned leaving the other hand free for the equally important business of drinking a pint. Each player draws 6 dominoes and places them so that the other players can't see their value. The dominoes are ritually shuffled face down in circles with the flat of the hand - producing a sound that has been familiar down the centuries. ![]() ![]() ![]() Depending on your symptoms and medical history, your eye doctor might conduct tests, such as eye exams and blood work, to help diagnose the underlying cause of your anisocoria. Unequal pupil shape or differences in diameter greater than 1mm are often due to an. In this type of anisocoria, the unequal pupil sizes occur as a side effect of medication. A difference in pupil size can occur normally in about 20 percent of people, but this size difference is typically very small, on the order of one-half millimeter or so. Pupils should be equal, round and equally reactive to light. Some examples of this condition include coloboma, which is a gap in the iris that gives the pupil a distinct cat-eye appearance, or aniridia, which is an eye condition where there is a complete or partial absence of the iris of one eye. When unequal pupil sizes are caused by damage to the eye, it falls under the category of mechanical anisocoria. This constriction then results in anisocoria. Pathologic anisocoria is unequal pupils caused by an underlying condition or disease, such as Horner’s syndrome or Third nerve palsy. In fact, simple anisocoria can be intermittent or constant, and may sometimes even go away on its own without any medical intervention. The difference in pupil size will be less than or equal to 1 mm, and the condition may be intermittent, persistent, or self-resolving. This particular type can affect up to 20 of the population.
